Statistical Programmer
The Department of Data Science and Biostatistics (Real-World Evidence group) at the University Medical Center Utrecht is seeking a Statistical Programmer / Biostatistician to contribute to large-scale, real-world health data projects.
In this role, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of epidemiologists, medical researchers, data engineers, and statisticians on studies assessing the safety and effectiveness of medicines and vaccines. The projects involve distributed analysis of sensitive health data using a common data model to support causal inference.
You will contribute to:
Implementing target trial emulation study designs and reviewing statistical analysis plans
Designing and developing analytic pipelines with data engineers, and support continuous improvement
Processing, visualizing, evaluating, and reporting statistical results
Contributing to teaching and research activities within the department
The Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care is one of ten divisions within UMC Utrecht. The Julius Center plays a leading role in the advancement and dissemination of knowledge in Health Sciences and Primary Care through high-quality research and education. The Department of Data Science and Biostatistics focuses on Health Data Science, Clinical Trial Methodology, and Real-World Evidence.
The Real-World Evidence group is a dynamic, inclusive, and multicultural environment of 5 statisticians, 6 data engineers, 5 epidemiologists and 15 PhD students, we have people with 14 different nationalities from all continents and interact in English. We collaborate with European research networks such as VAC4EU, EU PE&PV and the SIGMA consortium, as well as with the European Medicines Agency and global institutions, on projects that frequently support regulatory decisions regarding the safety and effectiveness of medicines. We aim to incorporate AI in all our processes for efficiency.
What We Offer
A full-time (100% FTE) position, with salary in scale 9 or 10 depending on your experience (see CAO UMC)
An initial one-year contract with the possibility of extension upon a positive evaluation
UMC Utrecht has a diversity and inclusiveness policy (see website). We will apply initial selection based on curriculum and motivation letter, based on number recieved this may be supported by AI-powered tools. We would like to hire by December 1st, and therefore will preselect candidates that do not require a visum. You will have a first selection based on interviews (remote), and a second stage, where you will be asked to perform a task. Evaluation will be structured, to select fairly.
